West Marches Style Campaign

I'm going to be running a West Marches style campaign, assuming I can get players (see the ongoing southern reaches campaign on Bugbears for Breakfast for what I mean by this).

Anyway, I've been working on a random dungeon so that they have somewhere to go that's a bit closer than town, but still dangerous, although it's safe enough to sleep in for a few nights, assuming they keep it cleared

It's not complete yet, but here's the most distinguishing feature:

Room 1, Level 1: An octagonal room. There is nothing here other than the stairs to the surface. All walls are set with doors. The lower right door leads to...

Room ?, Level 1: An octagonal room. There is a flight of stairs in the center of the chamber. The smell of damp and decay wafts up from the darkness below.

Room 1, Level 2: You have entered an octagonal chamber. There is the skeletal corpse of another adventurer laying against the far wall, with some flesh still hanging from the bones. This is the source of the stench of rotting meat. (The corpse is a Skeleton, which will awaken if the bones are disturbed.)

Room 3, Level 2: There is the sound of loud breathing, as well as the smell of smoke and cooking meat coming from behind the door. If opened the party will see an ogre roasting the spitted body of a hobgoblin. The room is octagonal. The party will have a 50% chance to simply leave (subject to modifiers), in which case he will not notice thier retreat, and will finish cooking the hobgoblin.

Noticing a trend here? Those are the only octagonal rooms in the dungeon, and all of them have stairs to another level.

Plot Hooks And Quotes

These are some of my favorite quotes/fictional places re-purposed to serve as plot hooks.

The king has choked to death on a concubine. It turns out to be a misunderstanding, and was actually a cucumber. The messenger wasn't great with language skills.

The players find a knitted sampler, the edges decorated with birds and flowers in the wilderness. It has the motto "Eat cold steel, pig dogs!" on it, and is surrounded by the corpses of several bandits, variously strangled with pink yarn, or stabbed with knitting needles.

A magical construct has insufficient dates due a war in ______. A new supply must be procured.

An institute of magical learning has vanished from sight, but can still be bumped into. In addition, about 30% of all conversations will be lost due to the chiming of a clock which makes silence instead of noise.

More may or may not be forthcoming.

Edit: The party requires a virgin sacrifice for some reason. If the Paladin has not taken vows of chastity, re-roll.

PbP Campaign - Noirrac/Carrion

So, my first post on the PbP campaign... This is my Unaligned Tiefling Rogue, Carrion, who goes as Noirrac to avoid putting people off. The style of the General Backstory is heavily influenced by the Verden campaign on Bugbears for Breakfast.

General Backstory: My name is Carrion. In case you're not used to being around Tieflings, my name is a result of the custom of taking a word that represents a concept and attempting to embody it. Or, in my case the other way around. I've been a scavenger for years. Mostly I take stuff from battlefields, or the estates of the recently dead, though I do occasionally rob a morgue or two of personal property. It's easier that way. Dead people don't tend to keep an eye on their stuff, you know?

Description: Carrion is twenty years old, and 6' tall. His horns are long and vertical. The left horn is missing its tip, and has been since he caught it on a window when a job went bad. He wears a plain iron ring on his right hand with the word "Adrie" carved into it. Adrie was an elf that he knew two years ago. She was captured by the guards of a local manor and has not been seen since. He uses a handmade rapier. Its blade is formed from the pieces of arms that Carrion has looted from various battlefields, while the hilt is crafted out of gold, silver, and gems. He wears a set of comfortable leather armor.

Welcome!

Lunching on Lamias is for recording the exploits of my characters and those of the other people in the campaign, through the form of adventure logs. Whether or not they're in character depends on what I'm up to and whether or not I'm a player or the GM. Currently it will be covering a Play by Post on reddit that I'm a player in, as that's the only active campaign I'm a member of.

Edit: Lunching on Lamias will also cover any random stuff that's related to gaming that I do/like. See Plot Hooks and Quotes, and/or Building A House, for examples.
