Flash Fearsday

Flash Fearsday is a microfiction challenge: write a horror story in 140 characters or less. If you feel that is too limiting, you can try for 140 words. Flash Fearsday was started at Porky's Expanse!; however, Porky was unable to continue hosting it, at which point it moved here. What will you create for the challenge?

  1. Rotting hands reached from the darkness. At last, someone was attracted to her for her brains.

  2. Hi,

Apologies for the off-topic comment, but I couldn't find a contact email for you.

I've recently put out an ebook of my writing, called 'The New Death and others'. It's mostly short stories, with some obvious gamer-interest material. For example I have a story inspired by OD&D elves, as well as poems which retell Robert E Howard's King Kull story 'The Mirrors of Tuzun Thune' and HP Lovecraft's 'Under the Pyramids'.

I was wondering if you'd be interested in doing a review on your blog.

If so, please let me know your email, and what file format is easiest for you, and I'll send you a free copy. You can email me ( or reply to this thread.

You can download a sample from the ebook's page on Smashwords:

I'll also link to your review from my blog.

  3. @ anarchist - Good job. That definitely augurs very well for the ebook!

    I've just posted mine:

My hamster - my? - peers through the bars. Angry. What to live for?

Ancestors stolen from the fields. O the open spaces!

    I turn to my wheel.

  4. @anarchist - Awesome twist. I love it!

@Porky - Now we know why they are so vicious...

  5. Sure! Sorry about taking so long to get back to you - a lot of stuff came up in real life, and I was thinking about whether or not to do it.

I'll send an email tonight or tomorrow with details.

  6. Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for it.

  7. Thanks. I've sent you a .doc and a coupon code which will let you read it online.
